Notice of April 2004 Meeting

Remember that the next meeting is on the first Friday of the month because the second Friday in April is Good Friday.

Our April speaker is Peter Shepherd-Wilson. He has spent 11 years working with gardeners and is co-founder of Waterwise Systems. He will be talking to us on all aspects of water conservation, both inside and outside the home, and will be telling us about his system for cleaning and usung grey water.

Remaining Meeting in 2004

Remaining meetings for 2004: 14th May, 11th June, 9th July, 13th August, 10th September, 8th October, 12th November, 10th December. Meeting reminders will appear in the newsletter.

March 2004 Meeting

Members will be delighted to know that the March meeting raised $173.40 an excellent effort. Thank you very much to all who brought and bought - and took away unsold items.

Bulbs

A reminder to bring your order and the money for bulbs to the April meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting please send your order with cheque or money order to the Treasurer, P.O.Box 1BK, Black Hill 3350. Cheques and money orders should be made payable to the Ballarat Cactus & Succulent Society Inc. and should reach Margaret by 2nd April. The bulk order will be placed.

Winter Warmth Display

This will be in the Conservatory from the 10 - 26 September and we will be admitted after 5pm on the 10th to set up prior to our meeting; we can sell during the 2 weeks.

Library

Are all members aware, especially newer members, that we have a comprehensive library and there is no borrowing charge? Shirley Faull is the Librarian and the library is open each meeting evening. Do take the time to have a look at our collection.

Open Days at Rudolph's

These will be on April 23, 24th and 25th. Rudolph will be free to talk to mambers, he will supply drinks. BYO lunch and picnic at Teesdale. He will be selling plants as well. How to find him? Ring Noel - 5339 2316 or Margaret - 5331 7331 for sailing directions, or join up with a member who has been there before.

John Banks Collection

Roofed outdoor benches, and photographs of his two hybrids: H. "Spring Joy" (bottom left) and H. "Sheer Infatuation"(bottom right). Bill Morrison has obtained permission to use article and photographs on our website. These photographs will be tabled at our April meeting.

CORRECTION NOTE :
In 3rd last paragraph, ' September growing period' should read ' summer growing period'. The sentence 'seedlings, at the best, may flower the following year' should be omitted.
