EVENTS

The Ballarat Cactus and Succulent Society has meetings on the second Friday of each month, commencing at 7:30 pm.

Location: Robert Clark Horticultural Centre in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, Lake Wendouree (Access and parking in Gillies St North).  All Welcome.

DISPLAYS

The Ballarat Cactus and Succulent Society has a regular display at the Ballarat Begonia Festival and also holds the "Winter Warmth" Display every year at the Robert Clark Centre in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.

BEGONIA FESTIVAL

Our Society will be displaying cacti and other succulent plants during this year's Begonia Weekend from Saturday 6th to Monday 8th March 2010 (10 am - 5 pm). Location: Ballarat Botanical Gardens.  

Visit our marquee (between the conservatory and the Robert Clark Centre building) for advice and info and to check out the plants on display and for sale.

WINTER WARMTH DISPLAYS

This year the Ballarat Cactus and Succulent Society will show their display from :

11 September to 19 September 2010

It will feature Cacti, Succulents and Bromeliads. Some plants will be for sale.

The display is free to the public, and an opportunity to chat with members and ask them questions on many topics such as how to take care of these plants, where to obtain them and which plants are suitable to the Ballarat area and climate.

EXCURSIONS

A number of bus excursions to succulent gardens and collections are planned for the coming year. For details, please contact our Secretary, Bill Morrison, on 5345 2995.

BUS EXCURSION

19 June 2010. To Melbourne, visiting the Botanical Gardens and its newly-restored 'volcano' planted with cacti and succulents. Plus a member's cactus and succulent collection.

CONFERENCES AND GATHERINGS

WESTERN REGION GARDEN CLUBS CONFERENCE

20 March 2010, Buninyong Golf Club. Guest speaker, Kevin Walsh, on 'Waterwise Gardens'. Open Forum on garden topics, plant identification and pest control. Reports from garden clubs. CACTICON

1 - 4 October 2010, Penrith, NSW.  Annual conference featuring UK speakers, Dr Geoff Bailey on Mexican Ariocarpus and Argentina/Chile, and Dr Colin Walker on Agaves and Morrocan succulents.
